Portland Residents’ Community Service Hours Rise, Despite Economic Times
August 25, 2009
Local electricians donated thousands of dollars worth of man-hours and supplies to Portland Habitat for Humanity on Aug. 22 in SE Portland.
The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 48 members along with Dynalectric, a local electrical contractor, volunteered services and supplies to wire homes for two Portland families. Although many of these electricians are not working due to poor economic times, they still believe it's important to give back to the economy.
"The downturn in the economy has hit us hard like all the other trades" said Clif Davis, IBEW 48 Business Manager. "But what sets Local 48 apart is that it doesn't affect our spirits - we're not sitting on the couch watching television and wishing times were better. We're using our down time to help the community."
Dynalectric and the IBEW 48 have been long-time supporters of the Portland community. Learn more at necaibew48.com
