Sisters in Solidarity
Committee Objective
The Sisters in Solidarity of Local 48 aims to develop and strengthen recruitment, training, and retention of women within the IBEW. This committee strives to model behavior and culture in which under represented people in the trades, and in the IBEW, empower and support each other. The Committee will also serve as a resource of leadership for other tradeswomen committees.
Gus Miller Chapter of the E.W.M.C.
Committee Objective
The Gus Miller Chapter of the Electrical Workers Minority Caucus (EWMC) represents our regions minority electricians. They work to promote equity, equal opportunity and employment for minorities and underrepresented workers at all levels of the IBEW structure. The EWMC’s mission includes efforts to foster leadership development and empower minorities and underrepresented workers to become active participants and leaders in the IBEW.
Public Sector Unit
Committee Objective
Place for Individuals in Public Sector can speak openly, engage and share Ideas with one another. Come Prepared to give a report on work & people in their workplace or department. Our unit will present one Public Sector report a year at the General Membership meeting.
S.A.F.E.
Committee Objective
As an affinity group for queer individuals and allies of IBEW Local 48 our entire purpose as a collective is to center and elevate queer voices within the union, and our leadership is made up wholly of members of the LGBTQIA+ community. We work to make the lives of queer tradespeople safer and more equitable, and to make our meetings a place of solace for queer people to connect over their shared experiences. Our committee and its outreach efforts are a uniquely vital part of our goal to maximize visibility, showing more people than anywhere else that neither your gender nor sexual orientation limits your ability to pursue a meaningful career in any field.
Residential Unit
Committee Objective
For members of Local 48 who are working under the Residential CBA or those who work along side them (i.e. stewards). This meeting is also where upcoming negotiations are discussed along with updates. Updates regarding what is going on in the Local and events coming up are also discussed.
Washington Unit
Committee Objective
The Washington Unit provides a space for members, and IBEW 48 representatives to share information regarding our CBA’s, Safety, Washington Politics, and work picture.
Coast Unit
Committee Objective
To allow members working or living in the coast region of the jurisdiction (Clatsop and Tillamook Counties) to receive updates about what is going on in the Local and to keep them informed of any other pertinent information.
Marine Unit
Committee Objective
IBEW 48 Marine unit meets monthly to share and receive relevant information with their Union Rep. related to the CBA, Safety, Work picture, and solidarity actions.
Wasco Unit
Committee Objective
Informational meeting to keep people working or living near Wasco county updated on jobs, events, or other union related activities.
