Inside Negotiations Update: Week of August 24th

The Local 48 and NECA bargaining teams met on Tuesday and Thursday of this week as well as Tuesday of last week. We have not tentatively agreed to anything more. NECA told us today that they will not or cannot agree to modified CIR, putting the foreman call-by-name MOU into the agreement or even renewing that MOU, reverse-book layoff language, mandatory apprentice rotation of any kind, or overtime rates on any of the other benefits.

There are a few other items that we are willing to tentatively agree to, but the conversation unfortunately ended when we said we need certain language items. We currently do not have any more bargaining dates set and the way that the meeting ended today I am not sure if NECA is willing to meet any more unless we drop our larger asks.

We are very disappointed that we have had many conversations with NECA in the hopes of getting somewhere, and then at the end of the day the answer is “no” to all items that are the top priorities of our members.

Thank you,
