Grand Floral Parade Team

2024 IBEW Local 48 Grand Floral Parade Morning of June 8th

We will be participating in the Grand Floral Parade on June 8th . The Grand Floral Parade will consist of our team of 50-100 Rosie Riveters escorting a group of WW2 Riveters riding in jeeps provided by the Portland Rose Festival Foundation. Every member of our team will be dressed as Rosie the Riveter.

Many will be performing a simple rehearsed routine while others wave to the crowd in the middle of the formation. Members will need to show up to one or two rehearsals via Zoom or in person.

Rehearsals are planned to be held at the Hall 15937 NE Airport Way and Aloha Grange 3425 SW 185th Ave, Beaverton, OR 97006. The meetings at the Hall will be available via Zoom too. Zoom links will be sent out before the date.

The dates and times of rehearsals are:

Thursday May 16th 7pm at Hall live Rehearsal and available via Zoom. (Recording will be made to practice on your own later) Small chance shirts available.

Friday May 17th 7pm Grange. No zoom ability live only. Small possibility of shirts.

Wed May 29 at 7pm Hall Live and Zoom and shirts available.

Saturday June 8th, 8:00 am at the Memorial Coliseum. Hopefully not your first practice but hey if it is we are glad to have you and maybe you pick up things quick or watched the video or you want to help us fill our ranks in by walking and waving which is much appreciated!

Other arrangements for shirts and bandanna pickup will be figured out by each Local. In the past people come pick them up at their Local Hall or receive them on the morning of the event.

Zoom links and reminders will be sent out the day before a rehearsal.

We will be sending out important information like meet up times and locations for the morning of and fun events we will hopefully be adding to the experience. Last year we did a tavern lunch with drinks and afterwards a private Navy Ship Tour. Talk of a Friday night get together is being discussed too.

The routine will also be video taped and shared to practice. Routine will be reviewed taught and rehearsed on the morning of the Parade too.
