Carl Walter Gudmundson

Carl died peacefully in his sleep at home with family by his side. A funeral was held Aug. 24, 2012 at Washington Masonic Lodge, 3612 SE 52nd, Portland. Carl attended Woodstock Grade and Benson High Schools. He married Mildred Lovegren on Nov. 8, 1943 and they lived and raised their family in Portland. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor and served the Navy during World War II. He worked as an electrician at many companies and retired from the City of Portland. Hobbies included woodworking, Masonic Lodge and puzzles.

Friends will remember him for his wisdom, intelligence, devotion to those he loved and great sense of humor. Carl was a Past Master of Sunnyside Lodge; 70-year member of IBEW Local 48. Survivors: wife, Mildred, of 68 years; brother, John, California; children, Bob, Ron and Joan Gudmundson of Portland; Janice Dees, Ridgefield, Wash.; grandsons, Bill and Brian Bixenstein, Portland; great-grandson, Brayden; and many friends and Masons. The family will miss his presence but will cherish their memories.
