Garth R. Edington

Garth Robert Edington was born June 9th, 1930 in Saskatchewan, Canada. His father was Garth William David Edington, and his mother Ella Corrine Hansen. Garth’s father was a policeman. They lived on the prairie with Ella’s father. Garth’s father was killed in the line of duty. Garth and his mother went to live in Chicago, then moved back to Vancouver, B.C where he went to high school.

Garth married and had two boys, Mitchell and Roger, and they moved to Portland, Oregon where he worked in the Electrical business. Karma and Garth were married in Hawaii in 1970. Karma had 3 children; Kay, Randy, and Tanya Putnam, who is a nurse.

Garth’s hobby was fishing, and always had a boat. Garth and Karma loved to travel and go on cruises. They also worked in the family history library.  Garth was a very accomplished man. There was always something that needed to be fixed and he always figured out what needed to be done. Garth owned an electrical company, along with Dick Moore, for many years. Garth had a good word for everyone, and “never was heard a discouraging word.” Garth was very patient when Karma and Theta went shopping.

Garth was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints June 1987. He also had the privilege of baptizing his 80 year old mother. Garth and Karma celebrated his mother’s 100th birthday several years ago. Garth and Karma were sealed in the Portland Oregon temple. Garth and Karma have been married 44 years.

Garth is survived by: wife Karma; 2 sons Mitchell & Roger; daughter Kay Akers and her son Brandon and his wife Shea and their two children; daughter-in-law Beth, and Karma’s daughter Tanya and her husband Clay and their two daughters; Karma’s sister Theta and Keith Jones from Arizona and their family.

Funeral Services have already been held.
