Richard Dan Walker

Richard Dan Walker passed away Saturday, March 23rd, surrounded by family.

He was initiated into the IBEW April 1960 and retired November 1993.

Dan was born in 1931 in Dallas, Texas. When he was very young, his family moved to the Booneville, Arkansas area and stayed there a few years before they moved to Vancouver, Washington.

Dan was a loving husband and father. He was a great little league coach and was almost always present at his children's school events.

He was a hard worker and enjoyed a rewarding career as an electrician with the IBEW local 48. He enjoyed fishing, caring for yard and garden and watching sports, especially Mariners baseball. He could fix just about anything and was always willing to help his friends and neighbors. He was a kind and gentle man, not pretentious, and often preferred to allow others to do most of the talking.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Berta (Thornton); and his brother, David Walker. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Catherine Walker; and his daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Steve Winnett , his sister Celia Garrett and his brother James Walker. He is also survived by his five granddaughters, Selah, Rachel and Elizabeth Walker and Megan and Alexis Winnett. Of course he will also be missed by many other friends and relatives.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Parkside Adult Family Home for the care they gave to Dan.
Dan will be remembered on March 27th at 2pm at Glenwood Community Church in Vancouver, Washington.
