Terrance E. Jenkins

Terrence "Terry" Elwood Jenkins, 62, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2013 in Vancouver, WA, after a long struggle with diabetic related disease. He was born January 22, 1951 in San Francisco, to Edith Rosenlund Jenkins and Frederick John Jenkins, Jr. and was raised in Salinas.

He graduated from Alisal High School in 1969 where he earned All-League honors in football as a defensive tackle. After graduation, Terry joined the United States Navy where he was trained as an electrician and underwater salvage diver. He served around the world during a four-year enlistment. He later attended Hartnell College in Salinas. Terry also served in the Reserves and was proud of his two sons' military service in the Navy and Marine Corps.

While in the Navy, Terry married Susan Campbell of Beaverton, OR and they had three children, Terri Lea Anglebeck, Frederick John Jenkins III and Edward E. Jenkins; all live in the Vancouver, Washington area. Terry was a third generation union electrician and worked on various construction projects throughout California, Montana, Washington and Oregon. He was also a part-time instructor at Clark Community College in Vancouver for several years.

Terry was proud of his family and being grandfather to Samantha, Brianna, Sailor, Heaven and infant grandson, Rylen. He is survived by his loving mother, Edith of California; dear wife, Susan; his three devoted children and their supportive spouses, Terri Lea Anglebeck (Heath), Frederick (Trina), Edward (Sunshine); his beautiful five grandchildren; along with his brother, Darryl; good friend and sister, Darlene Jenkins, and favorite brother-in-law, Jay Petersen, who live in California. He has many loving friends and relatives in the Vancouver, Portland, Seattle, Salinas and San Francisco Bay areas.

For those who wish to honor Terry's memory, the family suggests donations to diabetes education and research. We also wish to especially thank the wonderful staff at the VA Community Living Center Hospice in Vancouver, WA.

Rest in peace, Terry, in a place of light, love, and joy and may your memory be eternal. You will be missed.
