Apprentice Advisor Program

IBEW 48 Electrical Apprentice Advisor Program

Local 48 Journeymen, active or retired, and electrician apprentices in your last year of training: we welcome you to participate in the Apprentice Advisor Program.

  • Help transfer skills between generations of IBEW Local 48 electrical workers
  • Share your tricks of the trade, support and strengthen our workforce

Our workforce is our future. Whether you are still active iin the field or you are enjoying your retirement, you now have additional opportunities to connect with the workforce of today and tomorrow.

The goal of the Apprentice Advisor Program is to pair apprentices with either apprentices in the last year of their electrician apprenticeship or with Journeymen whom they may contact periodically with questions about training, job site issues, or expectations.

Through this program, apprentices will have more tools to set career goals, assess their experience, identify gaps in their on-the-job exposure, and find a way to supplement those gaps.

Become an IBEW 48 Electrical Apprentice Advisor

The NECA-IBEW Electrical Training Center is looking for Journeymen and last-year apprentices from all license classifications to act as advisors. There are two ways you can participate:

  • Support Advisor¬†- Apprentices may contact you forverbal or writeen communication regarding job-site issues or questions.
  • Teaching Advisor¬†- You would act as a support advisor and also may identify one or more areas where you have expertise and are comfortable conducting small extracurricular workshops.

Advisors will receive a short training on effective advising and apprentices will receive a list of available advisors which will include each journeyman's areas of expertise.

Email for more information or to put your name on the contact list at one of the next few union meetings.
