Nathan J. Jackson

Nathan was born on August 4th, 1979 in Portland, Oregon. He was the second son of John and Natalie Jackson with an older brother, Thad. He only weighed 4 pounds 13 ounces, but he filled a huge place in our family and our hearts.

Our home was brimming with laughter, drawings, Lego creations, pets, and imaginatively built vehicles that the boy’s smaller pets could ride in (whether they wanted to or not).

Nathan gave much to us in love, fun and joy. His spirit was sensitive, reserved, and very friendly. He would take on any task with a bold determination and can-do attitude. Nathan had a great love for animals, especially yellow labradors.

Nathan enjoyed close relationships with his loving grandparents. From his grandfather, Leonard, he gleaned a strong work ethic. His grandmothers, Audri and Dorothy, instilled in him a fondness for traditional family recipes; such as Swedish pancakes, lefse, and shrimp coleslaw.

As a family we enjoyed many outdoor activities; camping, fishing, hiking, motorcycling, trips to the beach… As a young adult Nathan developed a passion for bow hunting – a pursuit to which he would devote much of his free time. He felt at home in the forests of the Pacific Northwest and was often out scouting.

In 1998 Nathan graduated from Southwest Christian High School and went on to graduate from the NECA-IBEW Local 48 commercial electrician training program. As a skilled journeyman he practiced his trade in Multnomah County and surrounding areas. Nathan would always make himself available to help others.

In 2008 Nathan married Annie, the love of his life. They bought their dream home near Vernonia, Oregon, a bucolic riverfront house where he could walk out his back door and hike into the forested hills.

Nathan and Annie shared a special 7th anniversary on January 12th. He died in a car accident the following evening. We were not ready to lose him, but we trust in God for His plan, timing, and provision to deal with this loss.

Nathan had a sensitive heart for the Lord Jesus and accepted Him as Savior. Nathan is survived by his wife, Annie, his parents, John and Natalie, his brother, Thad, and sister-in-law, Amanda. He also leaves a father-in-law, Robert Grebin, mother-in-law, Carol Grebin, and sister-in-law, SarahTucker, family and many close friends. Nathan will be missed by all of those whose lives he touched.
