Lorena Manzo

- Membership Services
Lorena joined IBEW Local 48 in the Membership Development and Organizing Assistant role in October 2023. She had previously worked at the Carpenter’s Union as the Administrative Assistant to the Director of Organizing for five years, and before that taught high school for 23 years, teaching students in the English Language Learners (ELL) program. Although she truly loved teaching, she realized it was time to find a job that would allow her to devote more time and energy to her own children. She truly cherishes all those years as a teacher, and is still in touch with many of her former students.
After leaving the Carpenter’s Union, Lorena took a few months off to spend the summer with her children. When she began her job search, she received a notification that the Local 48 position was available, which seemed like an ideal fit given her familiarity with unions and organizing.
Lorena really enjoys working with the members and Local 48 staff. She likes to learn new things, along with looking for ways to improve the way we do things.
Outside of work, Lorena loves being outside, whether it's swimming, biking, running, or hiking. Spending time with her family and friends is something she really enjoys. She has always loved to travel, and every year tries to go on a family vacation. Her family likes to be quite active.
